At MILOBRAS, we undertake this work exclusively as part of complete renovations of private homes. We assess the kitchen alongside the rest of the property to decide what can stay, what needs attention and how each choice fits into the renovation plan.
Kitchens within a complete renovation
The relationship with the living room and circulation areas helps determine whether an open or separate kitchen is appropriate. We plan furniture positions and the connections between materials around the available space and the way the family uses the home. These decisions form part of the property’s complete renovation.
Technical planning for the kitchen
We start by checking dimensions and the positions of the sink, hob and fridge. We allow for useful worktop space and check that doors and drawers can open without obstructing movement.
With the layout defined, we plan the plumbing, electrical installation, ventilation and lighting. We also check gas connections where present. This information guides preparation before furniture is made and installed.
Updating and restoring kitchens
Not every element needs replacing. Within the complete renovation, furniture or finishes in good condition can be retained where they are compatible with the agreed design.
If we find damp or deteriorated installations, we address the cause before applying new finishes. Material choices take account of frequent cleaning, maintenance and everyday use.
Coordinating the trades
We organise the work so that services are prepared before walls are closed and finishes installed. We check that the space is ready for furniture, worktops and appliances, reducing the need for late adjustments.
In occupied apartment buildings, we also plan material deliveries, waste removal and protection of shared areas. We keep clients informed about progress and the decisions needed at each stage.

- For the renovation of a T1 apartment in Benfica, the former kitchen became the bedroom, while the new kitchenette was incorporated into the living and dining area.
- As part of the renovation of a T3 apartment in Odivelas, the kitchen is open to the living room, with a Silestone worktop and an island incorporating a sink and storage below.
- During the complete rehabilitation of a T6 house in Queijas, we extended the lower-floor kitchen into the former balcony and created an open-plan living, dining and kitchen area upstairs.
